About characters in the game
I have developed many games over the years without ever publishing one.
Although I also worked on some for a long time, their development was never finished.
Why?
Probably because I am the worst critic of myself and my work, and if something doesn't fully convince me and my attempts to “fix” it don't convince me in turn, I think it's best to “let it go” and focus my energies on a new project.
I don't think I'm the only one making these arguments, quite the contrary.
But Beautiful Artificial Creatures from the very beginning was special. It's really a very strange thing to describe.
Although the writing of the story behind the game was a group effort, took months and also a lot of effort to reconcile different inputs, make them consistent with each other, sacrifice certain things while choosing others, from the very beginning I had a clear picture in my mind of how the game and particularly the characterization of the characters should come out.
My intention was to make each character unique, recognizable and obviously fun.
Beyond the technical issues, the graphics, the animations, the sound system, this game is all about the characterization of the characters, and a lot of effort went into that.
